Lakh Lakh Vadhai to the Saadhsangat on the Pehla Parkash of Sri Aadh Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. Sri Aadh Guru Granth Sahib Ji's Parkash was performed by Baba Budha Sahib Ji, in the presence of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib on Bhaadron Sudi Ekam, 1661 Bikrami (1604 C.E.) The following passage from Sri Gurpartap Suraj Granth recounts the moments when the Parkash of Sri Aadh Guru Granth Sahib Ji took place for the first time:

After taking Ishnaan in the Sri Raamdas Sarovar, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji sat under a beri (tree) immersed in meditation. When two gharris (around 48 minutes) passed of this ambrosial time, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji said the following words:
เจฌเฉเฉฑเจขเจพ เจจเจฟเจ เจธเจฐ เจชเจฐ เจงเจฐ เจเฉเจฐเจฟเฉฐเจฅเฅค
เจ เฉฑเจเฉ เจเจฒเจนเฉ เจธเฉเจงเจพเจธเจฐ เจชเฉฐเจฅเฅค
เจฎเจพเจจเจฟ เจฌเจพเจ เจฒเฉ เจญเจฏเฉ เจ เจเจพเจฐเฉเฅค
เจเจฎเจฐ เจเฉเจฐเฉ เจ เจฐเจเจจ เจเจฐ เจงเจพเจฐเฉเฅฅเฉจเฉฏเฅฅ
"Baba Budha Ji! Place the Sri Aadh Guru Granth Sahib upon your head! And walk on the path towards Sri Amritsar Sahib (Sri Darbar Sahib)." Following Guru Jiโs orders, Baba Budha Ji walked in front with Sri Aadh Guru Granth Sahib Ji placed upon their head. Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji walked behind waving the Chaur Sahib over Sri Aadh Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Various conch shells and Dhaunse (a type of trumpet) were played in honour of the arrival of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Everyone exclaimed, โJai! Jai!โ The beautiful young Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, walked aside in all their glory.

When they reached Sri Harmandir Sahib, The Raagis were singing Gurbani Kirtan beautifully, Baba Budha Ji placed Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji upon a Manji Sahib, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji themselves sat near the Manji Sahib (at a lower level to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji).

As the Vaar (Kirtan) came to a close, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji then said the following words: โBudha Sahib! Open the Sri Aad Granth Sahib! Take the โAvaazโ (Hukamnama) so that all the Panth may hear!โ Baba Budha Sahib Ji then did parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji with complete reverence, and read out the Hukamnama Sahib which was as follows:

The Lord Himself has stood up to resolve the affairs of the Saints; He has come to complete their tasks.

The land is beautiful, and the pool is beautiful; within it is contained the Ambrosial Water.

At the end of the Hukamnama Sahib, everyone bowed their heads, recognising they had obtained Vaheguru (in the form of Gurbani), the helper of the poor. Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji continually waved the Chaur Sahib over Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. After the Hukamnama Sahib, Baba Budha Sahib Ji read Sri Jap Ji Sahib from the Saroop of Sri Aadh Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Listening, the Sangat all said, โDhan! Dhan!โ
They were in a state of extreme bliss and love.
At the end of Sri Jap Ji Sahib Ji a Jaikara was exclaimed, All the Sangat replied while bowing their heads towards Sri Aad Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji then went on to explain to Baba Budha Sahib Ji the full Maryada that should be carried out for the Satkaar of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and what the daily routine of Sri Darbar Sahib should be (which can be read in detail in Sri Gurpartap Suraj Granth). Baba Budha Sahib Ji then asked where Sri Aadh Guru Granth Sahib Ji should be placed at night, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji replied:

Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji said โthis (Harmandir Sahib) is the Darbar (court) of Vaheguru and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the complete manifestation of Vaheguru on this earth! When one and a half pehar (one pehar is 3 hours) of night passes, Then read Kirtan Sohila while doing Sukhasan of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Take Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji with full respect, to the Kotha Sahib where I usually reside and with reverence place Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji there. When 1 and a ยฝ pehar of night remains, return to Sri Harmandir Sahib.

You are to then do Ishnaan of Sri Harmandir Sahib. The floor should be cleaned meticulously. A Deepak (joth) of ghee should always be lit. When you see one pehar of night remaining...

Start the singing of Asa Ki Vaar. In between Asa Ki Vaar sing appropriate Shabads of various morning raags. When 2 gharris of night remain, bring Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from Kotha Sahib with reverence.

When the bhog of Asa Ki Vaar is done, take Hukamnama from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This should be repeated everyday.โ Saying so, Guru Arjan Dev Ji then sat down and listened to the Chaunki (Kirtan) of Raag Kaanra.

Sohila Sahib was then read and Ardaas was performed. Baba Budha Sahib Ji then placed Sri Aadh Guru Granth Sahib Ji upon their head while Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji waved the Chaur Sahib continuously.

The sounds of conch shells and various other instrument resounded during the procession. The Kotha Sahib was the place (now inside Akal Takhat) where Guru Ji would remain the most; they would only go to their home (Guru Ke Mehal) every so often.

When they reached Kotha Sahib, a beautiful bed was prepared on which intricately embroidered cloths and bedding were placed. Beautiful garlands covered the cloths.

This became the resting place for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji out of deep reverence would rest on the floor next to the bed of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
