Shaheedi Chotte Sahibzaade - Translation from Sri Gurmukh Parkash

13 Poh marks the Shaheedi Purab of the Chotte Sahibzaade, Sahibzada Baba Zoravar Singh Ji, Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Ji and Mata Gujri Ji at Sirhind. At this location now stands Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. To commemorate this Mahaan Purab we have translated two passages from Sri Gurmukh Parkash Granth, written by Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, describing the conversation between the Chotte Sahibzade and Wazir Khan when the Sahibzade first entered the court of Suba Sirhind:

The court was held and all the Turk (Mughals) came together, Wazir Khan entered bringing ‘Jhootha Nand’ along with him (Note: his name was Sucha Nand, however, the Khalsa calls him Jhootha Nand due to his actions prompting the Shaheedi of the Sahibzade).

When Sahibzada Baba Zoravar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Ji entered the court, they roared ‘Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!’ Seeing such fearlessness ,the Mughals were astonished.

Jhootha Nand said, “Say salaam and bow to Wazir Khan”, hearing this the sons of Guru Sahib roared the Fateh again!

Wazir Khan said to the Sahibzaade, “Accept our faith and I will get you married to princesses. You should accept this offer as we have already killed your father in war.”

The Sahibzade said fearlessly, “We are of the Khalsa Dharam, our faith has been created by Vaheguru themselves, we shall keep the honour of our faith.

We will never convert to your religion, We shall give Shaheedi as our grandfather, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji the protector of the poor gave their head, marking the end of the Mughal Empire!

We shall never give up our Dharam by marrying your daughters; we shall keep our Jath Sath intact. We have destroyed any sense of fear inside us today.

Our father, Guru Gobind Singh Ji is undefeatable, no one can kill Guru Ji! In fact, your armies ran away as cowards when Guru Ji & their Singhs roared in the battlefield!” (One such example is of the Mughal General Khwaja Mardud who hid behind a wall during the battle of Chamkaur, not having the courage to face Guru Sahib face to face in battle. Guru Ji mentions this in Zaffarnama: That coward Khawaja (who was hiding behind the wall did not come out in the battlefield like a brave man, Alas! If I had seen his (Khawaja’s) face, I would have sent him to the other world with just one arrow. – Verse 34-35 of the Zaffarnama).
