18 Kattak 1738 Bikrami (1681 C.E.), marks the Parkash Divas of Mata Sahib Devan Ji (Mata Sahib Kaur Ji), the mother of the Khalsa Panth. Mata Ji took Parkash in Rohtas (District Jhelum), where Guru Nanak Dev Ji had placed their Charan (marked by Gurdwara Choaa Sahib). In celebration of Mata Ji’s Parkash Divas, one of Mata Ji’s Hukamnamas have been translated below. As per the commands of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Mata Ji left Nanded for Delhi to join Mata Sundri Ji. Here Mata Ji led the Panth until their Sachkhand Gamman in 1747. Mata Ji sent various Hukamnamas (commands) to the Panth, of which nine are preserved. Below we have translated part of one of the Hukamnamas, showing the love Mata Ji had for her children, the Khalsa Panth and how Mata Ji showered countless blessings upon the Khalsa:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ
ਭਾਈ ਆਲਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਜਮਾਇ-
ਤਦਾਰ ਸਰਬਤਿ ਜਮਾਇਤਿ ਕਬੀ-
ਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਖੇ
(ਨੀਸਾਣ ਮਾਤਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇਵੀ ਜੀ)
Ik Oankaar Satguru Ji. Bhai Aalam Singh Ji Jamaaitdaar (Jmaat = Jatha, meaning Jathedar) and all the Jamaait (Jatha i.e. the Sangat) who are my ‘Kabeela’ (family), May the Guru protect you.
NOTE: The above, as can be seen written vertically in the attached handwritten image is the Neesaan (signature) of Mata Ji. The rest of the letter is written by a Likhaari (scribe).

Ik Oankaar Satguru Ji. O the Khalsa of Sri Akaal Purakh! It is the command of Sri Mata Sahib Devi Ji, to Bhai Aalam Singh Jamaaitdaar, and the whole Khalsa Kabeela (family). The Guru will protect you, forever recite ‘Guru, Guru’ (i.e. always contemplate on the Gurmantar), which will make your life fruitful. I am extremely pleased, You are my children, my ‘Farzand’ (Farsi: meaning 'sons'). May the complete Guru bless with you with Degh, Tegh, Fateh. It is my request, that the Seva (i.e. Daswandh) collected by Bhai Aalam Singh Ji be given to Mevrra (The Ardaasia, who also collected Daswandh) Bhagat Gurbaksh Singh (to be used for the Langar). Those Singhs who will contribute towards the Langar, the Guru will bless them in abundance and protect them in all situations.
Sammat 1783 Assu Vadhi 10 Sattra 11
(1726 C.E. 10th day of Assu Vadhi (dark half of the month, from Full moon to new moon). Sattra 11 (meaning this letter has 11 lines, written to avoid any tampering to the Hukamnama).
